Presbyterian Wins VHA Best Practices and Leadership Awards

VHA Inc., a nationwide network of more than 2,200 community-owned healthcare organizations, has named the winners of the best practices and leadership awards for 2005. Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews are the recipient of several of those awards.
Presbyterian Hospital received the VHA Best Practices Award for Clinical Quality Improvement. Presbyterian received the award for involvement in StrokeSense, a program that provides education for stroke symptoms with advanced treatment at the hospital.
Presbyterian Hospital was a finalist, along with Forsyth Medical Center, for the 2005 Best Practice Innovations Award for the VHA Target:Diabetes initiative that Novant Health has been involved in for almost two years. The project goal is to improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes.
Both Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews received Leadership Awards for Excellence for being among the top hospitals nationally for their treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarctions (heart attacks).
