Presbyterian to Open Physician Practices in Ballantyne
April 9, 2003
Contact: Kevin M. McCarthy, Presbyterian Healthcare, 704-384-9669
Presbyterian Healthcare will be the first Charlotte area healthcare provider to open physician practices in the Ballantyne area. The newly formed Ballantyne Medical Group and Ballantyne Pediatric Associates are scheduled to begin seeing patients in late summer at the Ballantyne Medical Building, located in Ballantyne Corporate Park, 15825 John J. Delaney Dr. Presbyterian also will offer general radiology services.

The combined Presbyterian presence will take the entire second floor of the building and will total 19,000 square feet. The facility is being developed by Bissell Development, designed by LS3P Associates, built by Turner Construction and will be owned by Bissell-Miller, LLC.

"Given Ballantyne's rapid growth in both residential and commercial development, the time is right to bring medical services directly to this community," said Dan Hagler, M.D., executive vice president of Presbyterian Regional Health Corp., the physician division of Presbyterian Healthcare. "People who live in the area or spend a large part of their day there will be just minutes away from quality care for themselves and their families."

Ballantyne Medical Group will be comprised of three physicians who will transfer from two existing Presbyterian physician practices. Philip A. Hanrahan, M.D., and L. Cooper Garner, Jr., M.D., will join the group from Pineville Primary Care, while Robert L. McDonald, M.D., will transfer from First Charlotte Physicians-Randolph. All three are board certified in internal medicine. "It is always exciting to launch a new practice and this will be especially true in a vibrant area like Ballantyne," said Dr. Hanrahan.

Ballantyne Pediatric Associates will be comprised of one full-time and two part-time pediatricians. One, Mark Reynolds, M.D., will be transferring from Florida. Two additional pediatricians from the Charlotte area will also join the practice.

An open house is planned for area residents and office workers after the moves are completed.
