A 1946 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital's School of Nursing is still improving the health of the community through a generous gift to benefit students of the School.
Claire Hard Rose has funded the first charitable gift annuity to the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation in the amount of $100,000. Her contribution will go to create a full scholarship for Presbyterian's School of Nursing.
"Mrs. Rose's unselfish contribution to nursing education will help Presbyterian develop skilled and passionate nurses," said Arthur M. Rusty Brink, Jr., Presbyterian Hospital Foundation executive director. "Her gift serves as an example to others."
The annual scholarship will be given to a student enrolled at the School and awarded based on criteria established by the School of Nursing financial aid office.
"I am very committed to nursing," said Rose. "By offering a scholarship, I hope we can encourage more young people to pursue the rewarding field of nursing."
The Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing is the second oldest hospital-based nursing school in the Carolinas. The School offers a nursing education program that prepares knowledgeable, competent and caring nurses.
The Presbyterian Hospital Foundation serves Presbyterian Healthcare and its related entities in matters related to philanthropy. Since 1985 the foundation has generated almost $33 million in philanthropy to benefit those served by the staff and programs of Presbyterian Healthcare.
