Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital is one of only three hospitals in North Carolina honored for its high quality orthopaedic services. The hospital, part of Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health, has been named in the nation's Top 100 Orthopedic Hospitals by the HCIA-Sachs Institute.
The "100 Top Hospitals" studies provide the benchmarks for performance set by the nation's health care institutions. The objective of the program is to establish annual targets of performance and monitor emerging trends in benchmark information.
This is the second consecutive year Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital has achieved this honor. Only 13 hospitals that made the inaugural HCIA top 100 orthopedic hospitals list, published in November 1999, were also on this year's list, according to Modern Healthcare. Other N.C. hospitals on this year's list are Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, also a Novant Health facility, and First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
"We're honored to be one of three hospitals in North Carolina to be recognized for achieving this high standard," said Tom Magraw, hospital administrator. Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital, one of only six hospitals in the nation dedicated to the diagnosis, care and treatment of injuries and diseases of bones and joints, has 156 licensed beds and 400 employees.
