When Devin Klein became a director at WBTV, he had no idea who Heidi Mauch was for over a year. A producer at the same television station, Heidi constantly passed Devin in the halls before the two actually took the time to stop and talk. That "talk" led to their wedding: a very hot, but very beautiful wedding at sunset on Lake Wylie.
Thanksgiving 2007 provided the Kleins another very special reason to give thanks: the arrival of a beautiful, healthy girl, born at 3:33 pm. Little Victoria Cadence isn't just Devin and Heidi's first child; she's the fourth generation of Kleins to be born here at Presbyterian Hospital.
- Elizabeth Goodman Klein, the great-grandmother, came into this world as Grover Cleveland was elected: the first year a president was inaugurated on radio.
- Robert Paul Klein, the grandfather, was born at the height of the baby-boom in 1949, when "The Lone Ranger" first appeared on television.
- Paul Devin Klein, father-in-residence, followed in 1983 just as "Return of the Jedi" hit the theaters.
Devin and Heidi didn't have any hesitation continuing the family tradition at Presbyterian: after four generations, you might say it was a "four-gone conclusion."
"When my wife, Heidi, and I decided to have our first child, we didn't think twice about Presbyterian Hospital," said Devin. "After all, I was born here; so was my dad, Robert; so was my grandma, Elizabeth."
"For four generations, Presbyterian has been our home away from home," continued Devin. "The birthing unit has a personal touch that makes it seem more like home than a hospital. And with state-of the-art maternity care, my wife felt both safe and comfortable."
Stay tuned for the next generation!
