You and your family are invited to tour our birthing facilities so that you know what to expect when it’s time to deliver. These free tours are offered at various times during the day, as well as evenings and weekends. We recommend you take the maternity tour early in your third trimester. Sign up to take a tour »
This class helps the expectant mom and support person learn what to expect during labor and delivery, the signs of early labor, relaxation and breathing techniques and about Cesarean birth and pain management choices. Important basics on infant care are also discussed. We recommend you begin the Childbirth Preparation class in your third trimester and complete it before week 38 of your pregnancy. Increasing Comfort in Labor: Tips, Techniques and Tools
An activity-based class for the expectant mom and her partner, this class practices using labor comfort measures, tools and techniques to help moms relax during delivery. This session is ideal for everyone who is anticipating labor, especially those who may want to minimize the use of pain medication during labor. The class will also include tips for supporting labor progress following an epidural. The Increasing Comfort in Labor class should be taken during the third trimester, after you have completed the Childbirth Preparation class. Cesarean Birth Preparation
Expectant couples learn how to prepare and what to expect during a planned Cesarean birth and postpartum recovery. The class gives an overview of birth by Cesarean, discussing the reasons for Cesareans, signs of labor, when to call your doctor, what to expect during the pre-op period, and what happens in the delivery room step by step, and how to minimize discomforts during the surgery and the mother's recovery. Support people will learn their role during the birth and beyond. We also discuss postpartum care in the hospital and at home, and VBAC (vaginal birth after Cesarean). Yoga for Birth
This three-class series, taught by a certified yoga instructor with special training in yoga for pregnancy, will help you prepare for birth by increasing flexibility and building strength. A one-session class for moms and their partners, this class, which is taught by a certified lactation consultant, explains breastfeeding basics and techniques. Lessons include how to read your baby’s cues, how to determine if your baby is getting enough milk and how to identify and manage breastfeeding challenges.
