"You must give some time to your fellow man. Even if it's a little thing; do something for those who need help. Something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it."    --Albert Schweitzer

For Adults:Volunteer Programs at Novant Health

Success in an ever-changing healthcare environment doesn't just happen; each and every one of us shares in creating and maintaining the most remarkable patient experience. Our volunteers play a vital role in this endeavor.

If you are a person who enjoys interacting with people and serving others, please consider volunteering at Novant Health.

Adult volunteers may:

  • Visit patients to ask about non-medical needs and offer emotional support
  • Serve as reception and information clerks
  • Assist visitors and patients with directions
  • Transport patients throughout the hospital
  • Assist in the hospital gift shop

Each volunteer completes an application, has an interview with the Volunteer Services staff, attends an orientation class, completes a health screening and receives training in the designated area before he or she begins to volunteer.
