Lactation consultants are important members of the healthcare team. To make an appointment with with a breastfeeding expert at The Nursing Mother's Place, call 704-384-7515.
Lactation consultants at The Nursing Mother's Place share feeding plans and information with both your baby's doctor and your doctor. We urge you to consider an outpatient consultation appointment if:
  • Feedings are painful or you are unsure if baby is latched well
  • Baby's urine and bowel movements are infrequent
  • Your doctor is not satisfied with baby's weight
  • Baby is born early (less than 38 weeks gestation) or weighs less than 6 pounds
  • Maternal conditions or illness
  • Infant conditions or illness
  • History of low milk supply with other babies
  • Previous breast trauma or surgery
  • Multiple births
  • Feedings take longer than one hour
  • Separation from baby (travel, medical treatment, back-to-work)
  • Adoptive nursing
  • You need support and guidance during your breastfeeding experience
Make an appointment at The Nursing Mother's Place by calling 704-384-7515 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Because of the urgency of feeding issues, we strive to see you as soon as possible. Please schedule your appointment at your baby's feeding time.
Avoid feeding or pumping two-three hours before your appointment. This will allow us to better assess your situation. Please bring all pump parts and supplies to your appointment. We will also need your insurance card, even though you will have registered by phone.
To register, call 704-384-8127. If you are prompted to leave a message, please leave your name, delivery hospital, social security number and phone number. Otherwise, our registration staff will assist you. Please have your insurance information handy. This process allows us to file your fees for the consultation visit and medically-indicated pump rentals to your insurance carrier.
If your doctor sends you to The Nursing Mother's Place from a physician office, you may register when you arrive.
