Hemby Intensive Care Nursery
| Presbyterian's Hemby Intensive Care Nursery is a Level IV nursery, the highest designation for treating premature and critically ill newborns. |
Our nursery offers parents peace of mind, knowing that high quality medical and nursing care is available around-the-clock should any medical necessity arise following birth. Our 38-bed facility features the most sophisticated monitoring equipment, a respiratory lab and a dedicated unit-based pharmacist. The nursery recently expanded and relocated inside Presbyterian Women's Center.
The intensive care nursery is staffed 24/7 by a team of board-certified neonatologists, nurse practitioners and registered nurses. Parents are considered part of the care team and are encouraged to visit frequently. We even have a special room called the Parent's Place that allows mom and dad to practice the skills theyll need to care for baby at home.
Visiting is permitted at all times except during the hours of nursing shift change, which is from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. Family, including siblings at least 12 years old, and friends may visit but must be accompanied by a parent.
A multidisciplinary discharge team helps facilitate baby's transition from hospital to home. A medical social worker will help obtain insurance approval for home medications, equipment and skilled care if needed.
