CT Scan of the Spine
A CT scan of the spine is a special type of x-ray test that produces detailed pictures of the spine and vertebrae in the neck (cervical spine), upper back (thoracic spine), or lower back (lumbosacral spine).
Procedure
  • CT of the spine requires that you lie on your back on the scan table.
  • You are placed on the scan table with your head or feet toward the scanner.
  • These scans may require an injection of dye into a vein depending on your history.
Special Notes
  • The scan will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  • The scan will be shown to a radiologist for interpretation and a report will be sent to your doctor.
