Radio Frequency Ablation
| Radio frequency ablation is used to treat rapid heartbeats. It is a non-surgical procedure performed in the Presbyterian Cardiovascular Institute's electrophysiology lab. |
Sometimes, individuals suffer from rapid, uncoordinated heartbeats. To treat this condition, the Presbyterian Cardiovascular Insitute offers radio frequency ablation.
This procedure is recognized as one of the most effective treatments for eliminating fast heartbeats. During the procedure, a catheter is inserted through the groin and guided all the way to the heart. When the catheter reaches the area to be treated, radio frequency energy is delivered to the treatment site. The energy destroys the heart tissue that was causing the rapid impulses of the heart.
