Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Caring House Support Groups
| The Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Caring House offers support groups for individuals diagnosed with cancer, as well as for those who are facing a diagnosis in a friend or family member. |
The support groups offered by the Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Caring House offers are free to anyone in the community regardless of insurance status, physician or hospital affiliation.
To register for a support group, please call 704-384-5223. All groups are open to family and friends except for the breast cancer support groups, which are designed for patients only.
Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Caring House Support Groups
The Prostate Cancer Support Group meets the second Monday of every month from 7-8:30 p.m.
Sisters Network, Inc. is committed to increasing local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African-American community. This group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. For more information on the Sisters Network Inc., visit www.sistersnetworkinc.org.
This support group meets the fourth Monday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m.
This support group is open to adults, family and friends (18 and older) with a lung cancer diagnosis. The group meets the second Monday of every month from 10 a.m. - noon.
This group is open to adults (18 & older) diagnosed with leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, multiple myeloma, lymphoma and myelodysplasia. It is sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This support group meets on the first Thursday each month from 6-8 p.m. For more information on other Leukemia & Lymphoma Society programs, please call 704-998-5012.
This groups meets every Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. Guest speakers come on the first Wednesday and pot luck lunch is offered on the second Wednesday.
Look Good, Feel Better is a free, national public service program to help women who are undergoing cancer treatment. This program teaches women coping skills for dealing with appearance-related side effects of treatment, which may include hair loss and changes in complexion and fingernails.
Look Good, Feel Better is a product-neutral (no specific product, brand or manufacturer is recommended or endorsed) and makes no medical claims. Sessions and materials are provided at no charge. This program is co-sponsored by the Presbyterian Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, CTFA Foundation and the National Cosmetology Association. Look Good, Feel Better meets on the first Monday of each month from 10-12 p.m.
This group is designed for adults and their family members who are dealing with cancer. Adapting and Growing meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Open to anyone diagnosed with cancer and their family and friends. This group meets Mondays from 6:30pm - 8pm
The Advanced Techniques group is open to all cancer survivors. It teaches meditation/self-help techniques and how to incorporate them into daily life; educates on stress and its effects on the immune system; participants will learn relaxation, imagery and more. This group meets on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. Please call for starting dates.
An information and resource sharing support group for family of caregivers and cancer survivors. This groups meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 2-3:30 p.m.
This group is offered to family adn friends who have lost a loved one. The group meets every Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
