Support for the Journey
About the Buddy Kemp Caring House
| Our mission is to provide comprehensive psychosocial support services to individuals of all ages diagnosed with cancer and their families throughout all phases of the cancer experience and includes a comprehensive bereavement program for families when a loved one dies. |
The Buddy Kemp Caring House is a home-like environment for emotional support away from the hospital setting. We offer support groups, counseling services, educational programs, a kids and teens program (for children/teens whose parents have cancer as well as children/teens diagnosed with cancer and their families) and a resource library for individuals diagnosed with cancer, their families and friends. All services are free and available to anyone regardless of insurance, physician or hospital affiliation.
Location
Francis "Buddy" Kemp
Francis "Buddy" Kemp was president of NCNB Corporation (predecessor to Bank of America) when he died of brain cancer at age 50. Buddy served the banking corporation for 22 years before his death in 1990. To recognize Buddy's commitment to his profession, to NCNB, to his community and to his family, NationsBank committed $250,000 to Presbyterian Healthcare to build and operate a Cancer Caring House to serve as an education and resource center for cancer patients and their families.
