Early Detection
Our Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Program offers community education programs to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviors which can reduce the risk of cancer.
Cancer can affect individuals of all ages, races and genders. Therefore, it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of the different kinds of cancer. Because risk factors like age, gender and family history aren't controllable, some individuals may not be able to prevent cancer from occurring. That is why early detection is so important in the fight against cancer. Detecting it in its early stages can have an enormous impact on the effectiveness of the cancer treatment.
Most methods of early detection are performed by the individual or by a primary care physician during a regular check-up. Therefore, it is important to be an active participant in your own health. Make sure you get regular check-ups and perform your own screenings routinely.
