Harris Hospice Unit
| Since 1987, our eight-bed inpatient Hospice unit has provided an acute care setting with a homelike environment to provide comprehensive medical care to Hospice and palliative care patients. |
The Harris Hospice inpatient unit is located within the Cancer Center at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Harris Hospice Unit is located around the corner and is separate from our 32-bed inpatient oncology unit, making ours the only on-site, inpatient hospice facility in the area.
We use an interdisciplinary approach with active involvement from the patient and family. Goals of care are focused on quality of life with emphasis on comfort and support holistically. The unit acts as a stepping stone to going home with Hospice Care.
The acute inpatient care services focus on symptom management for end-of-life care. The Unit also provides pain and symptom management through palliative care interventions. Bereavement services are offered through the Buddy Kemp Caring House.
Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care offers patients with terminal illnesses and their families compassionate and supportive at home care.
