The Presbyterian Breast Center offers access to state-of-the-art evaluation and screening for breast lumps and other breast problems, evaluation of abnormal mammograms, diagnosis for breast cancers as well as treatment and rehabilitation.
The Presbyterian Breast Center was created in response to the impact of breast cancer on women and their families. Comprehensive care, education and support are provided throughout the entire breast cancer experience by our team of doctors, nurses, technologists, social workers and other healthcare professionals.
Our staff of technologists specializes in breast imaging and is certified in mammography, so you know you're getting an advanced level of attention. You can also be assured that you are receiving the highest quality care because our facilities are accredited by the American College of Radiology. They have also been identified by the North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program as a Mammography Educational/ Assistance Center for other mammography centers in the state.
Open to the public and professional community, the Presbyterian Breast Center offers its own resource library. Current literature and audio-visual materials are available on a wide-variety of breast issues, including the latest breast cancer care. The library also offers information and resources to help women, their families and friends cope with breast cancer.
Diagnostic Mammogram
A diagnostic mammogram is performed under the direct supervision of the radiologist. Diagnostic mammography consists of verification, localization and characterization of breast abnormalities and uses a variety of tools to evaluate abnormalities.
Other Diagnostic Tools
In addition to routine mammography these other tools might include physical examination, special mammographic views, ultrasound, short-term follow-up, fine needle aspiration, pneumocystography, galactography, core needle biopsy, (stereotactic or ultrasound guided) MRI and Sestamibi breast imaging. The results are given to the patient at the conclusion of the exam.
