Medical Terminology
Overview of the language of medicine.
Principles of Radiographic Exposure
Study of the factors that control and influence the production of radiographic images. Sequence of three courses teaching proper, safe and effective use of equipment, accessories and supplies, as well as a detailed study of x-ray production and characteristics of radiation.
Patient Care in Radiologic Science
Instruction and practice in basic nursing procedures. Body mechanics to prevent injuries, standard precautions, aseptic and sterile techniques, injection methods, emergency medical procedures and an introduction to diagnostic radiology procedures.
Radiographic Procedures
Instruction necessary for performing standard radiographic procedures leading into special studies.
Image Analysis
Learn to recognize the difference between diagnostic and poor quality radiographs.
Radiation Protection/Radiation Biology
Instruction in the biological effects of radiation exposure; principles of radiation protection for self, patients and visitors; monitoring devices, equipment design according to the law and dose equivalent limits.
Fundamentals of Radiologic Science, Ethics and the Law
Overview of the foundations of radiology and the practitioner's role. Policies and procedures in the healthcare environment, medical ethics and the law.
Radiographic Pathology
Study of the diseases and how they affect the radiographic image.
Imaging Equipment
Survey of radiographic, fluoroscopic, mobile and tomographic equipment requirements and design. Includes basic quality assurance.
