Prior to arriving at Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital, you may be called by a pre-surgery scheduler to determine if you need an additional appointment up to two weeks prior to your surgery or other procedure. Based on the information gathered during that call, the pre-surgery scheduler may make an appointment for you to meet with an anesthesia physician assistant or anesthesiologist. This appointment will provide valuable information to your anesthesia care team to aid them in caring for you safely during your surgery or other procedure. During this appointment, the physician assistant or anesthesiologist will review your medical history; based on your history, s/he may order blood work and/or advise you to see a consulting physician to ensure you are medically ready to have surgery.
The pre-surgery scheduler will also offer a pre-operative education class that will provide valuable information to help you prepare for your surgery and learn how to care for yourself at home. If you have questions about the class, call 704-316-1453, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
