We are committed to providing the highest level of care for premature and critically ill newborns. Our 38-bed Novant Health Women's Center, located within Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, is a Level IV nursery, the highest designation in North Carolina. It is staffed 24/7 by a team of board-certified neonatologists, nurse practitioners and registered nurses and features sophisticated monitoring equipment, a respiratory lab and dedicated support services, including a pharmacist and child life specialist.
Parents are an integral part of the NICU care team. We encourage you to visit frequently while your baby is in the NICU, and we welcome visitors at all times. Family members and friends, including children ages 13 and older, may also visit when accompanied by a parent.
When it’s time for your baby to leave the NICU, our dedicated discharge team will help ease the transition from hospital to home. We have a medical social worker on staff that can help negotiate insurance approval for any healthcare assistance you’ll need once you get home, including medications, equipment and skilled nursing care. Our
early intervention coordinator is also available to connect you with local community agencies to assist with development, if needed.
