Your urology surgeon may choose to remove your kidney if you have advanced kidney disease from infection, kidney stones, a blockage in your kidney area, dysplasia or renal vascular hypertension (high blood pressure). You may also need your kidney removed if cancer is present in the kidney area.
When your Novant Health surgeon determines that your best option may be to remove your kidney, the surgeon can use minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery or make a larger incision for more traditional removal.
