Cystoscopy is a tiny tube that lets us look inside the bladder and the urethra to see areas that usually do not show up clearly using X-rays. We can use this instrument to remove samples of tissue (biopsy) or samples of urine. In many cases, small bladder stones and some small growths can also be removed during cystoscopy. This may eliminate the need for more extensive surgery.
A normal cystocopy can be completed within 15 to 20 minutes, with a rapid recovery time afterwards.
