If you suffer a stroke, getting back on your feet will likely be your main goal once you leave the hospital. Our outpatient stroke rehabilitation program is structured to help you regain as much independence as possible and improve your overall quality of life. Our interdisciplinary treatment team includes the following experts:
  • Registered nurse
  • Case manager
  • Physical therapist
  • Occupational therapist
  • Speech language therapist
  • Psychologist
Treatment is designed to meet the individual needs of each patient and can include:
  • Medical management
  • Patient and family education
  • Functional restoration
  • Training for daily living skills
  • Cognitive and communication exercises and strategies
  • Individual/family psychological services
  • Training and education to improve coping and adjustment skills for both patients and families
The program also offers a stroke support group that meets on a regular basis at the center. The support group offers different educational topics to patients and family members in addition to emotional support.

Stroke rehabilitation services are offered at Novant Health Rehabilitation Center. A doctor’s referral is required in most cases, but you may call 704-316-1900 if you have questions about our stroke rehabilitation program.
