Pain Management
The Novant Health Pain Rehabilitation Program is an intensive Mind-Body approach to manage a patient's pain. Typically, patients attend the program 4 days/week for 4 weeks, 4 hours each day (frequency and duration planned based on our evaluations). Patients attend physical therapy for the first 3 hours for therapeutic exercise, nutritional counseling, posture and body mechanics training, diaphragmatic breathing and relaxation training; and gentle movement techniques for management of flare-ups. The last hour the patient attends group psychological counseling including behavioral and cognitive therapy, depression and stress management, including family counseling, and coping skill enhancement. Individual counseling sessions are scheduled as needed and may include family counseling.
