The Novant Health Spine Fracture Clinic offers timely, expert care for spinal compression fractures.

Our team offers minimally invasive treatment within days - and often within the next day. We will also work with you and your family to coordinate follow-up care. For example, if you have a spinal compression fracture and suffer from osteoporosis - a risk factor for spinal compression fractures - we will coordinate a plan for care for your osteoporosis to help ensure that you do not experience additional injuries in the future.

If you have considerable back pain that affects your quality of life, you should see a doctor immediately. You may have a spinal compression fracture or another back injury. However, the symptoms of spinal compression fractures can be different for each person; for example, some people experience little to no pain, and others have other problems, such as digestive issues, hip pain and breathing problems.

If you have a compression fracture, the team at the Novant Health Spine Fracture Clinic will recommend a treatment pain. Your plan may include one of two minimally invasive procedures called vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, during which the doctor injects cement at the site of the fracture to reduce or eliminate pain and stabilize the spine. Or, the doctor may not recommend treatment right away, but instead follow you for a period of up to five years.

The Spine Fracture Clinic is accessed by physician referral only. If you suffer from back pain, please talk with your primary care physician about our spine program and available services. If you do not have a primary care physician, call 704-384-CARE (2273) to find one near you.
