Our staff of skilled behavioral health professionals is committed to providing personalized and compassionate care to our child and adolescent patients and their families. Our treatment team includes a wide range of professionals to address the medical, psychological, psycho-social, recreational and therapeutic needs of our patients. Family involvement and individualized care are fundamental components of our service.
Inpatient Treatment
We offer a short-term, recovery-oriented inpatient treatment program for children ages 7-17. The program is designed to rapidly identify a child's key issues and to partner with the child and their family to identify treatment strategies. The child/adolescent inpatient service offers a structured program that includes insight-oriented group therapy, educational groups, coping skills training, recreational therapy and medication (when appropriate and approved by parent or guardian). Services are provided under the supervision of experienced child and adolescent psychiatrists in a safe, child-friendly environment.
Partial Hospitalization
Our partial hospitalization staff includes therapists and other professionals who work with individuals requiring a less intensive program than the inpatient level. Partial hospitalization allows the individual to attend the program during the weekday and return home for nights and weekends to practice some of the skills they are learning. Partial hospitalization can serve as a transition from inpatient to outpatient care and provides an alternative to inpatient care for individuals who meet specific criteria. The program offers structured care in a stable, safe environment, helping increase a patient's ability to deal with problems. While in this program, the individual will be seen by a psychiatrist to help develop a treatment plan that meets the client's needs.
Presbyterian Academy
Presbyterian Academy is a private, fully-licensed school located on-site at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. The school allows children in our inpatient or partial hospitalization programs to continue their studies while receiving treatment at the hospital. The program helps patients remain current with their studies and coordinates closely with their home school.
