Junior Volunteers

The Junior Volunteer program offers an opportunity for teens to learn about healthcare by assisting staff, visitors and patients with non-medical tasks.

Volunteers must be able to follow directions, accept supervision and work independently. They should exhibit interest and enthusiasm.

We are looking for students who can make a dependable commitment of one shift per week for an entire program. Students who are interested in serving in a healthcare setting and who feel they can meet our expectations are invited to apply.

Application Requirements:

  • Download and complete the Junior Volunteer program application form, which includes two teacher recommendations: one from a humanities teacher and one from a math or science teacher (see the Related Links box)
  • Essay
  • An interview with the applicant and one of his/her parents

If you are accepted into the Junior Volunteer program, you are required to attend an orientation class, submit an immunization record, and complete hospital-provided TB testing before beginning volunteer service.
