The Alumni Association is a strong network of talented nurses who graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC.
The Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association was established in 1930 by Mary Belle May, the superintendent of nurses. Her position included charge of the hospital staff and the School of Nursing.
The Alumni Association was operated solely by volunteers until 1987. That year Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and the School of Nursing jointly offered a part-time position to assist the organization. Norma Farnsworth then became the first Director of Alumni Affairs. The position strengthened ties among the hospital, school, and community. The School of Nursing is now located at Queens University, but the Association remains tied to its roots at Presbyterian Medical Center.
The Alumni Association is once again a volunteer organization, with administrative support from Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health. Graduates provide the board members, alumni donations and event planning that keeps the organization vibrant. And, just like when it began, the Alumni Association continues to promote fellowship among its members, advance the interests of Presbyterian Medical Center and promote professional / education advancements in nursing at Novant Health.
