Physicians receive an online survey and are asked to make their selections without regard to hospital, clinic or health plan affiliations. Only 7 to 10 percent of area physicians in the featured specialties are selected to the list. 39 physicians from Novant Medical Group, the physician network affiliated with Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health, are included on the magazine's 2012 Top Doctors list.
