Community Event to Raise Money for Cancer Rehabilitation

Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness is proud to sponsor the fourth annual Yoga Warriors Against Cancer fundraiser that will take place on the Presbyterian Hospital front lawn on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness and will help to keep services such as yoga, massages, and nutrition counseling affordable for cancer survivor

One Hundred Practices Now Recognized

One hundred practices across Novant Medical Group (NMG), the physician network affiliate with Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health, are now recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This designation signifies that the practices have met a set of NCQA national standards established to improve health through the coordinated management of patient care.

Presbyterian Sports Medicine Launches Friday Night "Black & Blue Clinic" for High School Sport Injuries

On Friday, Aug. 17, Presbyterian Sports Medicine will launch its Black & Blue Clinic for unexpected high school sports injuries. After-hours care will be available to all high school athletes, from football players to cheerleaders, every Friday night this fall through Nov. 2. The clinic will be held at Presbyterian Urgent Care Matthews, which is located inside Presbyterian Hospital Matthews at 1450 Matthews Township Parkway. Care will be provided on a walk-in basis, and athletes seeking treatment must check in between 10 and 11:30 p.m. in order to be seen.

Presbyterian Cancer Center Awarded Network Status from Commission on Cancer

Designation Means Increased Access, Standardized Care for Patients 

 Presbyterian Cancer Center has been awarded three-year accreditation with commendation as a Network Cancer Program by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons, making it one of only 30 cancer centers across the country to receive this designation. Accreditation by the CoC is given only to those networks who have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.

Presbyterian Healthcare First In Area To Offer New Technology For Cataract Surgery

Presbyterian Outpatient Surgery Center now offers an advanced technology for cataract removal surgery, not available anywhere else in the Charlotte area. This new technology, called Femtosecond Laser-assisted cataract extraction, is more precise than traditional methods of cataract removal. Cataracts affect nearly 22 million Americans age 40 and older, and by age 80, more than half of all Americans have cataracts.
