The Presbyterian Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) was recently awarded The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in Heart Failure. The certification means the hospital has met compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for healthcare quality and safety in advanced heart failure care. Achieving Joint Commission certification demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to the highest level of care for its patients with advanced heart failure.
The CVI underwent a rigorous on-site survey by The Joint Commission surveyor. For advanced certification in heart failure, a program must demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, collect data on (at least) the four Joint Commission core measures for heart failure and use the information for ongoing performance improvement. The Joint Commission developed criteria in collaboration with the American Heart Association.
