Presbyterian Women’s Center to Host Pregnancy Preparation Seminar

Presbyterian Women’s Center will host Preparing for Pregnancy, a seminar focusing on preconception and genetic testing, on Thursday, March 1 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. This FREE seminar is perfect for anyone thinking about becoming pregnant in the future or has been trying to conceive without success. Led by board-certified high-risk ob-gyn, Hytham Imseis, MD, from Presbyterian Maternal & Fetal Medicine, Preparing for Pregnancy will include topics like:

• Preconception
• Genetic testing
• Nutrition/vitamins pre- and post-conception
• How long to expect to try before conceiving
• Are you mentally ready to welcome a baby?
• Budgeting for a baby
• Vaginal delivery versus C-section
• And much more!

Mary Rachui, RN, women’s health educator from Presbyterian Women’s Center and Angela Darnell, genetic counselor, will also be there to speak as well as answer questions. Individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions from these medical providers during in a group or one-on-one settings.

“Deciding to start a family is such an exciting time for a couple, but it can also be overwhelming,” Rachui said. “We want to make sure that everyone is educated and has the facts so it can be a joyous time. And if you are having trouble conceiving, we can help you with that, as well.”

Participants from past Preparing for Pregnancy events have really appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity. “It was nice to be in the company of several other couples all trying for a baby,” said Caroline Johnston, a previous Preparing for Pregnancy attendee. “Everyone was so warm and inviting, and it was incredibly informative! We got pregnant shortly after attending this seminar, and now we love being parents to a healthy baby girl.”

Preparing for Pregnancy will be held at Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte on March 1 at 6 p.m. Please call 704-384-CARE (2273) to register.
