Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital (POH) is one of only four hospitals in the Carolinas named to the “60 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs” list for 2011. Included on the list are nationally renowned medical centers such as Cleveland Clinic, Hospital for Special Surgery and Mayo Clinic. Also included is Rowan Regional Medical Center, located in Salisbury, N.C. and, like POH, a Novant Health facility.

“Hospitals were included on this list based on exhibiting excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations and high volume of orthopedic cases,” the publication stated.

The region’s only orthopaedic hospital, POH is also ranked in the top 5 percent in the country for surgical care measures. In 2010, it earned five disease-specific certifications from The Joint Commission, including hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement, laminectomy and spinal fusion.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a bimonthly publication offering business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
