Yoga Fundraiser Gives Strength to Cancer Survivors

Community Event to Raise Money for Cancer Rehabilitation

Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness is proud to sponsor the fourth annual Yoga Warriors Against Cancer fundraiser that will take place on the Presbyterian Hospital front lawn on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness and will help to keep services such as yoga, massages, and nutrition counseling affordable for cancer survivors.

The event, which is open to cancer survivors and yoga enthusiasts of all levels, includes a 90-minute, cancer-survivor appropriate yoga class led by local instructors, as well as chair massage and a therapeutic drumming circle.

Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness provides symptom management services for cancer patients to help them maintain physical, emotional and spiritual health throughout treatment. Through yoga classes, patients learn relaxation techniques, reconnect with their bodies and reduce side effects associated with cancer treatment.

Yvonne Brown, yoga therapist, explains that Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation & Wellness classes are different than basic yoga classes offered in the community. “Our yoga therapists are specially trained to help cancer survivors during their initial recovery and give them support until they are ready to step out on their own.”

This event combines a love for yoga with a love for helping others, and all proceeds will help local cancer survivors improve their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing during their treatment and recovery.

Yoga Warriors Against Cancer is open to any member of the community, from first-timers to yoga experts. Registration is $30. To sign up or learn more, visit www.presbyterian.org/yogawarriors.
