Presbyterian Healthcare’s vice president of women’s and children’s services, Pat Campbell, RN, MSN, MBA, is the new president of the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA). Her role began in October and will continue through 2013.

“I am both honored and humbled by this opportunity,” Campbell said. “I am ready to be the voice and leader for registered nurses throughout the state as we grow and strengthen our profession together. It is a privilege to be a nurse, and we have the opportunity to lead many initiatives with healthcare reform.”

Campbell is currently the vice president of women’s and children’s services for Presbyterian Women’s Center and Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital. She oversees the program development and strategic planning for these service lines. She has served in a leadership role at Presbyterian since 1989, and prior to that, held a variety of teaching and clinical roles in hospitals throughout North Carolina.

Campbell received an executive master’s in business degree from Queens University in May, and she also holds a bachelor’s degree from Queens University, master’s in education from Winthrop College in Rock Hill and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Campbell has been a long-time member of the NCNA, serving various leadership roles throughout the course of her membership. In addition to her membership of the NCNA, Campbell is also heavily involved in both the Charlotte and nursing communities, serving as a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Association of Women’s Health and Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, the United Way’s Women’s Health Initiative, Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and March of Dimes, in addition to other community organizations. She is currently chairperson for the Greater Piedmont Division of the March of Dimes.

NCNA, established in 1988, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the professional development of registered nurses, a healthy workplace and the promotion of health for all North Carolina. The organization is strong with approximately 4,000 members. NCNA headquarters is located in Raleigh.
