Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital each won awards for superior scores on national quality standards.
"We were honored for providing quality care to patients who are admitted to our hospitals with the diagnoses of acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure or pneumonia, and for having a minimal number of patients who develop surgical complications or infections or ventilator associated pneumonia while in our care," said Vickie Hendrix, manager of Clinical Improvement Programs for Novant Health. "Quality care is defined by meeting evidence based measures for each of these areas."
To receive recognition for clinical excellence, a hospital must have achieved 90 percent or better on various measures for two consecutive quarters. Strive for excellence awards indicate that a hospital achieved 90 percent or better in all measures for one quarter.
