CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital was honored with 24 awards from Professional Research Consultants, a national healthcare marketing organization that conducts satisfaction surveys to evaluate hospitals. For the past eight years, the PRC National Excellence in Healthcare Awards have recognized organizations and individuals rated at the top of the healthcare industry in comparison to other PRC members nationwide. The 2008 National Excellence in Healthcare Awards were awarded based on surveys completed by patients, employees and medical staff physicians in 2007.

"We're extremely honored to have received multiple PRC National Excellence in Healthcare Awards," said Tanya Blackmon, vice president of orthopaedic services. "Patient, employee and physician perception are the best possible measures of the care we provide."

PRC honors healthcare organizations with three different levels of awards -- Top Performer, 5-Star and 4-Star -- depending on how many people rate the facility as "excellent" in a broad range of areas. The Top Performer award indicates that facilities are at or above the 100th percentile for the Overall Quality of Care percent "excellent" score from the national client database. A 5-Star award means that the facility scored within the top 10 percent of national healthcare facilities. To qualify for a 4-Star award, a healthcare facility must score within the top 25 percent.
