Presbyterian Hospital Matthews recently received 33 awards from Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national healthcare marketing organization that conducts satisfaction surveys for the hospital. The 2008 National Excellence in Healthcare Awards were distributed based on surveys completed by patients, employees and medical staff members during 2007.

VHA, Inc., a national healthcare alliance, has recognized Presbyterian Hospital Matthews for providing excellent care to patients in its intensive care units (ICU). The 2008 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence honors organizations that have distinguished themselves from other VHA members by meeting or exceeding national performance standards in specific clinical categories. The hospital was honored at VHA's Leadership Conference in Philadelphia on May 4.

Presbyterian Cancer Center recently received the prestigious 2008 Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons.

The award is based on a rigorous on-site evaluation that examines process and performance within multiple areas of a cancer center, including: cancer committee leadership, data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement. Only a few programs across the country achieve the coveted designation, and those who do are recognized as delivering the highest levels of cancer care.

VHA Inc., a national healthcare alliance, has given Presbyterian Hospital the 2008 VHA Leadership Award for Superior System Performance, which recognizes health systems that provide high-quality care across four major clinical categories: heart attack treatment, surgical infection prevention, management of heart failure and pneumonia care, beginning 3Q 2006 through 2Q 2007.
