73 Charlotte-area Novant Medical Group Physicians Named to 2011 Best Doctors List

73 Charlotte-area physicians from Novant Medical Group, the physician network affiliated with Presbyterian Healthcare and its parent company, Novant Health, have been named to the 2011 Best Doctors list. On an annual basis, Boston-based Best Doctors Inc. surveys physicians, asking them to rate their peers by naming the physician to whom they would refer their loved ones or choose for themselves if they needed care in their own specialty area. Only 5 percent of physicians nationwide are selected as Best Doctors.

Charlotte Spine Expert Achieves Board Certification in Electrodiagnostic Medicine

Frank E. Lorch, MD, of Total Spine Specialists, has been awarded board certification in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) and is now an ABEM diplomate, meaning he has advanced training and expertise in the electrodiagnostic evaluation of disorders of the neuromuscular system. The ABEM is the national certifying body for physicians specializing in electrodiagnostic medicine. It was established in 1989 to maintain the high standards required for electrodiagnostic certification and to promote high-quality patient care.

Presbyterian Encourages Strong Bone Health During Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month

May is Osteoporosis and Prevention Month, and Presbyterian is encouraging people of all ages to be proactive and take care of their bone health.  According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, an estimated 10 million Americans have osteoporosis, and 34 million more have low bone mass.

Presbyterian Sports Medicine to Offer Free Sports Physicals to Union County Athletes for the Third Consecutive Year

For the third consecutive year, Presbyterian Sports Medicine will provide pre-participation sports physicals to Union County student-athletes free of charge. The service is available to all Union County Public Schools high school students, including rising ninth graders. Physicals will be offered at Sun Valley High School in Monroe on Saturday, June 4 beginning at 8 a.m. and ending mid-afternoon; each school is assigned a specific block of time.
